While researching Windows Server backup solutions, I created a Windows 2008R2 server machine in a VMware workstation. I then added in the Windows Server backup feature to that server and proceeded to backup the the 40GB server to a network share. I then set up a physical machine with different hardware specs, connected to the network, and inserted the Windows 2008R2 installation disk and went into the advanced area of repair and found the VM backup of the logical machine and restored the windows image to this new physical machine. This seems like an amazing feature: to create a physical machine from a virtual one.
Please let me know if anyone else has done anything like this.
