Hi,
I installed Windows Server Foundation R2, deleted the Windows.old folder, and then installed Windows Server 2008 R2 DataCenter (I have no CD for Datacenter but did for Foundation, from Technet), and then deleted the Windows.old folder again.
Anyway, I have a clean install of Datacenter (clean as in the option I selected), did the usual setup stuff, got Windows Server Backup installed, but when I try to do a system state backup, the backup fails to get past the initialization stage.
The error is: The shared protection point operation failed with error 0x81000101. Please see the event viewer for more information.
Looking at the event viewer, under Microsoft > Windows > Backup
The backup operation that started at '2010-09-26T19:42:33.997000000Z' has failed because the Volume Shadow Copy Service operation to create a shadow copy of the volumes being backed up failed with following error code '2155348001'. Please review the event details for a solution, and then rerun the backup operation once the issue is resolved.
This is a new install, with Hyper-V role, x64, fully patched... I used diskpart to check if it was enabled, and was, so that won't work. Please don't list any interim fixes as I need a proper fix so that I can do backups.
Thanks
