I followed the instructions for installing MABS in our local server area. We have two virtual servers, both running up to date versions of Hyper-V core. I established a new VM, 2012 R2, on our second server which is the replication target for our first server. I added a backup drive to this server so I'd have a very large intermediate backup device since I read this is the way that the MABS worked when dealing with local workloads that you will eventually send to Azure. My Azure backup vault process went smoothly, I used it during the MABS install, and the install was completed successfully. After the install I was notified of SQL 2014 updates so I used the windows updater for SP1. After that I downloaded the latest CU, 6, and installed that too. I restarted the server and then opened the MABS. Then after noting what was there, pretty blank, I opened Windows Server Backup. I found that I had not yet installed this feature so using Server Manager I installed that.
Now I reopen the Windows Server backup program and note that the second 'Backup' item appears in the navigation pane to the left. I click on that and it shows MS Azure Backup at the top of the right side window. Below that is the error:
Following error occurred during MAB snapin operation. Error details: MAB encountered an internal error. wait... and the last sentence is 'Please close the MAB SnapIn and restart it.
In the 'Data Protection Manager UI' I see the message, "There are no computers agents installed. To install agents, click install"
I restart the server VM; open the MABS 'Data Protection Manager UI'; open Windows Server backup. No change.
Not at all sure how I'm supposed to add the storage disk, or interact with the Azure backup vault now that I have MABS installed. I'm starting to read the Technet article 'Configure storage pools and disk storage' now. Hope I did not make a mistake by getting my storage disk prepped in Hyper-V as a .vhdx so i could attach it to my MABS VM instance.
Basically, I followed these instructions: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/backup-azure-microsoft-azure-backup/
