Hello all.
I've read the other posts on this forum around Windows Server Backup 2008 and I understand that I am able to add as many disks to the scheduled backup pool as I'm able to connect to the server all at the same time. I further understand that when a
new disk is used in the rotation the backup utility will perform a full backup because it has nothing else on the disk so presumably "everything has changed" and it needs to back it all up again (I don't want to argue
this the important part is that it creates a new full backup). However, I have a client that uses 3 USB disks on a daily rotation in the following scenario:
Monday - Disk1, Tuesday - Disk2, Wednesday - Disk3, Thursday - Disk1, Friday - Disk2, Monday - Disk3.
In the above scenario my understanding is that the first Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will all be new full backups. So, my question is about what happens on Thursday, Friday, and the second Monday in this scenario. Considering that on Thursday
Disk1 will contain a full backup from Monday and the files are all essentially the same does the Thursday backup include Monday's full backup and any changes since then up to Thursday and allow you to restore Monday's and Thursday's files or
is Thursday a new full backup that only allows you to restore Thursday's files?
Thanks
Joe
